What is Deaf Media Summit for?
Deaf Media Summit is an event that brings together media and technology professionals to drive innovation, entrepreneurship and talent development within the Deaf community.
At the national Summit in Washington D.C., seasoned Deaf professionals will gather and discuss ten of the most important topics and view innovation demonstrations, live streamed to local summits worldwide. Attendees of all summits will then break out and discuss issues on their regional levels.
What are local Summits?
The Deaf Media Summit will happen in many locations, with the “main” summit taking place in Washington D.C. first and then soon afterward, at locations such as Deaf service centers, small offices, schools, and more. Each summit will be hosted by an individual or organization that have their own needs and goals to be met.
After all, a summit in a small, rural town will focus on very different topics than a summit in the heart of a major metropolis.
Once the ten topics are discussed and the innovation demonstrations are over, the attendees of the D.C. summit will focus on global issues while locals will focus on discussing issues specific to their local summit’s group – whether it is a specific industry, campus, a city, or a region, the possibilities are endless!
We hope that multiple countries will also participate, arranging for Deaf interpreters to translate from ASL into their local sign language.
Who is Deaf Media Summit for?
The summit is open to Deaf or Hard of Hearing seasoned industry professionals,leaders, and creative talent in media and technology, including journalists, filmmakers, web developers, programmers, editors, writers, graphic designers, instructional designers, and content creators.
Business owners, CEOs, CTOs, marketing managers, non-profit directors, and anyone else in a decision-making capacity are also encouraged to participate.

Yes! We are encouraging hosts to bring together local talent and leaders to ensure impact on the regional level. It may be small and intimate or a sizeable gathering. You only need a few forward thinking people in a room in order to spark amazing things.

Why is it an “invite-only” event?
At the main Summit in Washington D.C., we will be bringing together less than 100 people those who are subject matter experts, in a position to effect change, decision makers.
What are Innovation Demonstrations?
They are solutions, products, technology, content creation, and marketing tactics that will be useful to Deaf professionals at work and for achieving change.
The innovation demonstrations may be pre-recorded or performed live on-site. We encourage unique presentation ideas and if possible, the opportunity for hands-on use and testing by attendees.
How can I get a product or service added to the Innovation Demonstration?
There are two ways. First, they are included as a benefit in some of our affordable sponsor packages. Second, we are accepting proposals from the public and our team will select those that are innovative and useful for Deaf professionals.
Through the contact form, you may submit a script (for a video), a demo video showing what you’d demonstrate live, or the actual product that can be distributed to attendees at all summits for hands-on use. All submissions will be kept confidential.
Is there a call for presenters?
Currently, we are collecting topic ideas from the public and asking the Deaf community to vote on which topics that are considered to be the most important to them. Then, we will work with our team, sponsors, and presenters to choose a final set of ten topics, to be presented by seasoned Deaf professionals in that related field.
